| Papa:
What was your favorite part of working on the Backwater Bunch
Project? Jeremy:
The development of the pipeline was incredible. The
infrastructure for this project was really unique and very
efficient. Just the problem solving involved in a production
this large was really fun. The combination of keeping a
realistic environment in this alien world kept me on my toes
and pushing the limit.
Papa: Can you tell me what
some of your responsibilities were on this project?
Jeremy: I
lead the Team B modeling crew and made sure everyone’s
models conformed to our pipeline. I worked in a number of
departments including prop modeling, textures, animation and
rendering. I really enjoyed being part of the script writing
team and watching that develop into this project.
Papa: What previous
experiences inspired you to get into 3D?
Jeremy: My
dad works for Apple computers and I have been in front of a
keyboard since I was 4. I didn’t realize how much you can do
with Maya until I saw it myself. I am now hooked and love 3D.
I spent about a year playing with Maya PLE (the free version)
and creating characters and avatars for web sites. I liked the
possibilities and the doors it opens for people with lower
budgets to create art with amazing tools.
Papa: What did you find
hardest about this project?
Jeremy: Taking
my style of how I see art and integrating it with the look the
Art Director and Texture Super and Leads were looking for in
this project. I like to look at shaders from a math point of
view and Joe (Art Director) had a sense of style and design he
wanted. I think just making sure we both envisioned the same
thing was the hardest part.

Papa:
Which character did you like the best?
Jeremy: That
is a draw. I love Chomper and Ringo. I can’t just pick one.
Both characters are support characters and want to be there
for their friends but the just don’t go about it the right
way. Chomper is person of many words and Ringo is one of very
few. I just love them both.
Papa: What do you like to do
in your free time when you are not slaving away at your
computer?
Jeremy: Writing,
reading and of course playing video games.
Papa: What are your future
goals?
Jeremy:
I would like to move into the video game
industry and get involved in the development and production
areas. I would like to learn more about the distribution and
marketing that goes into a games life.
Papa: Would you like to share
anything else?
Jeremy: I
would like to encourage those who have thought of getting into
the 3D field to just dive in and give it a shot. The way
technology and the field is moving everyone has a chance to
participate and be part of a creative team.
